We also hold special services such as a Pet service and Songs of Praise, share our worship with the Methodists four times a year, and welcome Jenyns School for services during the year.

The church is open during the day for anyone who wishes to use it for quiet prayer or reflection. We have lots of activities for children and young people, a monthly Bible study group, Mothers’ Union and a thriving bell-ringers team. Other activities include 2nd October when we always celebrate the village tradition of Old Man’s Day, which both young and old enjoy. Please click here to access all our other activites for both children and adults.

During the summer people in the church and village provide ‘Sunday Teas’ with home-made cakes and a Country Stall, helping to raise funds for the church. The Friends of St Mary’s also raise funds to help us to maintain and improve our beautiful grade 1 listed building.

The churchyard is beautifully maintained and many people come to visit it. There is information at the back of church to help people find relatives’ graves.

We are one of six parishes in the Ash and Quin Valleys Team Ministry and share clergy across the team. The other churches in the Team are Albury, Furneux Pelham, Little Hadham, Much Hadham with Perry Green and Stocking Pelham.

Please contact the clergy for enquiries about baptisms or weddings or if you would like to talk through any concerns, perhaps about faith or personal issues such as following a bereavement or when facing a serious illness.

St Mary's activities

Welcome to St Mary’s Church. We are a small village church and we try to be welcoming to anyone who comes to our services or our village.

We have a service most Sundays. Twice a month there are services which are especially suitable for children (see services) although children are always welcome – there is a small area with toys where they can play if they wish.
