A special celebration dinner and dance was held on Saturday 28 May 2005 in St Mary's Church Hall in Braughing to celebrate 60 years since the ending of hostilities in Europe. There was a dress code theme of wartime, resulting in more then 80 guests using their imagination and in some cases personal memory to produce a wide array of superb costumes from evacuees, gangsters and their molls to army, navy and air force personnel. Entertainment was provided by Deja Vu, a trio of singers who took us on a musical journey through the last six decades. There was lots of flag waving and singing along throughout the night. The event was to raise funds for the Friends of St Mary's Church Restoration Trust, with funds going towards repairs to the guttering, re-pointing of the Brograve Chapel and more longer term towards the building of kitchen and toilet facilities attached to the church. The profit made from this event was £1035.96. Also, click here to see some of the photos taken on the night. |

I am the Police Community Support Officer, part of the local community police team, for the rural areas that are covered by Buntingford. One of the problems we try to deal with is anti social behaviour. It has come to our notice that lately there have been a number of instances of anti social behaviour by local young people. Some instances include paving which surrounds the Community Centre, being smashed and made into some sort of makeshift ramp. Drain pipes have been damaged, as has the cricket scoreboard. Whilst I appreciate that "boys will be boys", and indeed "girls will be girls" this behaviour has gone past being just a nuisance and amounts, not only to being anti social behaviour, but, it is also a criminal offence. |
