Our School Harvest Festival was, as usual, held in the church on the Friday morning, already decorated for the village service to be held on the Sunday. Consequently the atmosphere was delightful, with the sun flooding the church with mellow light, red, yellow and orange petals aglow, as were the children’s faces as they walked to the front of the church bearing their gifts. We sang our favourite hymn ‘Autumn Days’ enjoyed the various class contributions while Reverend Jeanette officiated at her first school event. The children and staff wandered back to school chatting cheerfully, the latter already aware that this peace and contentment was about to be disrupted! |

We were disappointed that author Dave Ross was unable through injury to speak to us on Richard Hilary last month. Our own Joe Edis stepped into the breach with a talk on his experiences flying the Lockheed Hudson during the war. Our November 30th speaker will be Tony Ditheridge, who will give a talk, postponed from earlier in the year, on restoring Hurricanes. As usual, the talk will be at 8 o’clock in the Old Boy’s School Len Howett |
