Jenyns School News - Nov 2005 Print E-mail
Our School Harvest Festival was, as usual, held in the church on the Friday morning, already decorated for the village service to be held on the Sunday. We sang our favourite hymn ‘Autumn Days’ enjoyed the various class contributions while Reverend Jeanette officiated at her first school event. An exhilarating evening is in store with this very special concert. Pete Long's extraordinary bebop orchestra featuring Britain's top jazz players will celebrate and rediscover the orchestral jazz of the late Dizzy Gillespie. Featuring six saxes, five trumpets, three trombones, piano, bass, drums, vibraphone, two latin percussionists and a vocalist, the big-band explores the legacy of a period when jazz was beginning to stretch its wings into full orchestration and encompassing Latin and African rhythms. Pete Long's exuberance as bandleader ensures that this will be great night out for all ages.
