It really seems extremely strange to write for the January edition when Father Christmas is still loading his sleigh and the reindeer are eating magic dust to enhance their flying skills!

December 4th 2005
A big thank you to everyone helped and shopped with us on Sunday 4th December.
The day was absolutely tremendous, with queues forming before we even opened.
I was great to welcome friends from both the village and regulars from the summer teas to our Christmas craft stall.
We managed to raise over two thousand pounds, significantly more than last year.
The support of everyone who donated there craft, locally made Christmas food and time was received with grateful thanks.
Thank you all on behalf of the St Mary’s Social Committee.

The Key Fund is a European Social Fund initiative, backed by local matching funders, that supports projects targeting people who face barriers to employment. The aim is to help local voluntary and community groups to unlock the potential of those who are disadvantaged in the labour market. Who can the Key Fund help? Young people with low-level skills and/or no work experience People with physical, learning or sensory disabilities Minority ethnic communities and those for whom English is a second language People who may for any reason have been out of work for a considerable time Generally, projects must help Hertfordshire people of working age between 16 and 64.

My loft at home is really an extension of my class teaching resources hoarded over the years. It’s the usual story ……you go to clear out so called obsolete items and land up buried in nostalgia and deciding too many precious memories abide in the flotsam and jetsam. |
