I know how you feel….. It’s three months now, you must be getting over it How many of us have been lost for words, feel we say the wrong thing or even ‘cross the road’ to avoid meeting a recently bereaved person. Gill Buck, a social worker with many years experience of working with bereaved families, has agreed to come to an initial meeting on Tuesday 12th September at 8.0pm at the Granary, Stocking Pelham. Everyone interested in hearing what Gill has to say is warmly invited. It is hoped that a few people from our Parishes may be interested in learning more about grief so that we would be able to assist the clergy in our Team with their work amongst the bereaved. Some people may like to come simply to understand more about grief or bereavement which is likely to affect us all at some time in our lives. If you are interested in coming to the meeting or would like further information please contact your local clergy or Clive Slaughter (01279 844955) |

The Summer Term is always busy and although we try to ‘stagger’ the events there never seems to be enough time as items jostle for position on the calendar. The Friends of Jenny's held a very successful Race Night just before Half Term and raised a considerable amount of money for our long term project, the playground. |

ALL RECORDS BROKEN
Our grateful thanks and congratulations to everyone involved in this year’s Christian Aid collection. We had sunny weather for the start of the week, but then it was a question of avoiding the showers while trying to collect the envelopes. But, never daunted, our team of 22 collectors in Braughing collected the great total of £1074.63. And with the Gift Aid declarations that some of you signed this will bring the total up to £1217.32. In Furneux Pelham for the first time, Lin Connor recruited some of her neighbours for a house-to-house envelope collection. It has produced an excellent result of £566.62 collected, plus the Gift Aid declarations bringing the total to £643.26. The Gift Aid donations applied to just about half of the total collected, so we are pleased the message about getting the extra from the taxman is getting better known. But there were a few quite substantial sums, as much as £20, not covered, which is a shame. Maybe next year ? We could not help the work of Christian Aid without the support of our dedicated collectors and of course the contributors. Thank you all. Sandy and Don Varley |
