There has been an 'urban myth' circulating emails about a so-called Parcel Delivery Scam. It begins something like this... The Trading Standards Office have brought the following scam to our attention:
A card is posted through your door from a company called PDS (Parcel Delivery Service) suggesting that they were unable to deliver a parcel and that you need to contact them on 0906 6611911 (a premium rate number). DO NOT call this number as this is a mail scam originating from Belize. It is not possible for a £15 charge to be made on connection |

Most magazine readers will be aware of the recent death of David Owen. He took an active role in village life and will be greatly missed. For some years David took care of the flock of ducks and geese which have become such a distinctive feature of Braughing on the ford in Malting Lane. Not everyone likes them, but a poll conducted several years ago showed that a large majority of residents did. The flock stays because it is regularly fed through the winter months by a volunteer team that David organized. His loss, added to that of Derek White earlier this year, leaves the team short of volunteers for the coming winter months. Please help us if you can. Bread and grain is provided and you will be asked to feed the flock each morning for just one month. Deputies can always be found for odd days when you might not be able to manage. Roy Glazebrook [01920 821495] or Peter Marshall [01920 822232] will be glad to hear from you. |

The warm weather was a welcome start to the term, as everyone feels more buoyant when the sun is shining. It also gave the children the opportunity to explore their new climbing wall. The challenge is to move horizontally from one end to the other using special handgrips and foot spaces. |
