We’ve been together now for 40 years  …….    So goes the old song, and this is how long Braughing Drama Group been going – though not with all the same people.  And that is what this ad is all about.

We have a cast and a show and a back stage crew all set up for this season’s performances, and I hope that hundreds of you will be coming along to have a fun evening *.   But there are some of our most experienced members – on and off stage – who want to make this their final full season.  I’ve been canvassing some potential new recruits and I hope some of them will soon step up to give it a try.  But I’m hoping that some of you out there, reading this article, or who know of friends or family, with an ambition to be on stage, or to help with lighting or as a stagehand or just generally be useful.  We welcome singles or couples where one wants to be on-stage and the other backstage or front of house.

The beginnings of the Group were in pantomime, but after a couple of years the music hall/variety format developed.  And it has been remarkably successful.  Many of you will know that we ‘sell’ the show as a package (which covers our production costs) to local organisations and charities.  And then it is up to the organisation or charity to sell the tickets to its members and supporters.  This means that we have a potentially wide audience base – not just Braughing people.  As each group sells, so they make a profit for their own funds.  Over the years many thousands of pounds have been raised this way.  Last season alone the amount was around £5000.  So it is a great local ‘industry’ in which we all have fun.

But we can’t do it unless there are enough members.  The format could change.  The dates could change.  The songs and sketches always need to change.  Would you like to know more ?  You can come along one evening to see how it all works now.  Or give me a call.
