Established in 1973, The Braughing Society now has over 250 members. It's aim is to stimulate community interest in the village and support the rural quality of life for its inhabitants. The Society considers all planning matters in the parish, to help promote high standards and protect features of historic interest.

It's activities include regular meetings held in the village hall with speakers talking on a wide range of subjects, outings to places of interest, and regular theatre visits - see our programme below.

We are also responsible for maintaining the Braughing Photograph Collection. which is looked after by a Society Archivist. This is a very large on-going collection dating back to the 1860s. From time to time exhibitions of these photographs are held. The collection of more than 1500 photographs is now digitally scanned and available on CD to purchase from the Society. See Local History - Publications section for further information.

The £2 membership is open to everybody and we like to particularly encourage young people to join. The Web Site has enabled the Society to reach many more people from both within and outside the parish and we invite all to become members and join us in our broad range of activities.
