St Mary's Church Christmas Services
St Mary’s may not have a vicar at the moment but it won’t stop us celebrating Christmas! We have something for everyone from decorating the tree to Nativity play, carol service and Midnight Communion. Everyone is very welcome at any of our services both at Christmas and at any other time of the year.
Children and families are welcome to join us in church to decorate our Christmas Tree. Refreshments provided.
CAROL SERVICE - Sunday 17th December 6.00pm Braughing Church
A traditional service of lessons and carols as we hear again the story of the first Christmas and sing our favourite carols. The Service will feature Braughing Pop-up Choir, conducted by Miles Knapman with Andy Watts on the organ and keyboard. The service will be followed by mulled wine and mince pies. Come along and join us !
(If you would like to be part of the choir please see separate advertisement).
NATIVITY SERVICE - Sunday 24th December 3.00pm Braughing Church
Once again the children in the village will be performing a traditional nativity play. Everyone is very welcome – if your child would like to take part, please bring them along dressed as shepherds/sheep/angels or villagers. There will be a rehearsal on Sat 23rd Dec at 3.00pm in church for anyone who would like a main part. This service is always popular and a lovely way for families to enjoy the true meaning of Christmas.
MIDNIGHT COMMUNION - Sunday 24th December 11.30pm Braughing Church
The Rev’d Tim Weeks will lead us in a beautiful Eucharist to welcome the Christ Child into the world. This is a lovely way to start Christmas – a bit of peace and reflection on the real meaning of Christmas before we open our presents and tuck into turkey.
HOLY COMMUNION - Sunday 31st December10.30am Stocking Pelham
Bishop Alan, the Bishop of St Albans will be paying us a visit on New Year’s Eve to lead a service of Holy Communion. If you have never visited Stocking Pelham Church it is truly delightful. We hope lots of you will come along.
TWELFTH NIGHT CAROLS - Friday 5th January 7.30pm Braughing Church
A last chance to sing carols and hear those traditional readings. It is also your opportunity to join in the Braughing Carol (did you know we had one?) Please bring along gifts of tea bags which are donated to the Salvation Army. Afterwards help much appreciated to take down the Christmas Tree.
The Church Warden and members of St Mary’s Parochial Church Council wish you all a peaceful and blessed Christmas.
