Braughing Fair and Wheelbarrow Race
This annual event usually takes place in early July on a Saturday afternoon and is the largest event in the village with approximately 2,000 people attending. It benefits local groups and charities, both of which raise money from stalls. All profits from the overall event go towards a local cause, e.g. equipment for the children’s playground, church hall repairs, school equipment. Volunteers are needed each year to help in the following areas:-
Build up - Thursday and Friday before the event
Set up - Saturday morning
The Main Event - Saturday during the event (12-6pm)
Breaking down - Saturday after the event
Final clear-up - Sunday morning
Village lunch
Every year St Mary’s church put on a Parish lunch in February which is open to everyone in the village. A hot meal is served; also dessert, tea or coffee. The cost is kept to a minimum so that all who want to can attend as it is a time to bring the community together in the colder part of the year when some people may not venture out very often.
The church also has a Bring and Share lunch on the 1stSunday of every month. You do not have to attend church to join in – just bring a dish and share.
If you would like to volunteer to help with any of the areas detailed above, please contact Councillor Ruth Fleetwood here>>>
